Hard to believe this is only my second week of class this semester… it already seems like we’ve been back for ages! So far all of my classes seem like they’ll be pretty interesting, but definitely a challenge.
My PR teacher has a military background and has done a lot of publicity work for the armed forces, so I’m excited to see his unique perspective.
My core requirement is a science-based class, so right now we’re talking about Galileo and the shift from an Earth-centered universe to the modern model. Eventually the class will get into Darwinism and the conflict between science and religion, as well as the controversy of “designing babies” through genetic engineering. Should be pretty interesting!
My marketing teacher is very involved in social media and the cutting edge of the market, so I’m excited to learn about all of the new tools and trends that he’s introduced to us. I can definitely tell the class will be helpful in future internships and my eventual career.
My communications class seems like it will be the most challenging so far, just because of the dryness of the material and the size of the class - all factors in making it difficult to pay attention! Hopefully I’ll manage to stay tuned in.
The last class I’m taking this semester is a sports PR course, and it’s definitely the one I’m most excited for. In addition to guest speakers every week, we will also be going on four field trips: a Lakers game, a Kings game, an Angels game, and a trip to the NBC studio. Hard to believe it’s really a class!
Outside of classes, I’ve also begun my responsibilities as this year’s Sponsor Chair for my sorority. I am in charge of planning our Bid Night in the fall, so I’ve begun to research different vendors and possible ideas to make the night as fun as possible! I’ve also moved into a new room in the house, and so far I’m loving it. My roommates and I all get along really well, plus there’s way more closet space than we had last semester which is a huge plus!
Finally, I’m wrapping up my last few weeks in the alumni calling office here in order to free up more time in my schedule to start my spring internship at the Academy of Country Music. My boss actually reached out to me to ask if I could start earlier than we had originally discussed, so my first day will now be this coming Monday! I’m so excited to see what is in store for me and to really get my hands wet with experience in the country music industry! On top of all that, I’m also working in the USC Athletic Department again, so there’s definitely a lot on my plate - hopefully I can manage to stay afloat!
Here’s to a great semester :)
